Ray Green Announces Campaign for Sacramento County Board of Education
Sacramento – South Natomas resident Ray Green today announced his campaign for Sacramento County Board of Education Member Area 2. Residents will have the opportunity to elect a new Board Member during the June 5, 2018 election.
“I’m going to do everything I can to help create an inclusive environment for our students to hone their abilities and become productive members of society,” said Green. “Unfortunately, many of our students have become unfortunate victims in the school-to-prison pipeline, and we need leadership that’s going to work hard to tackle this issue. I will be that leader.”
Green’s experience growing up as a foster youth in a low-income neighborhood profoundly impacted him, driving his commitment to education and civic engagement. As Program Director for the Roberts Family Development Center’s (RFDC) Black Child Legacy Program, Green oversees education initiatives designed to help mitigate the loss of life of children living in communities of color.
Candidate Green has also served as tutor and youth mentor as a part of the RFDC, helping students achieve better educational outcomes. Green is also active in his local community, serving as youth pastor at TIP Fellowship Ministries and as an advocate for early literacy programs.
He is a graduate of the University of California, Davis.
“I know the power of a great education and will use my connections in the community to build bridges with our policy leaders. Together, we can make a difference,” added Green.
